Disruptive Women is a diverse, multigenerational movement of women and men from various spheres of influence along with multi-denominational churches, nonprofit organizations, and networks united to transform urban spaces into places of shalom for women and girls.
This movement is about gospel disruption, challenging the status quo of women both in the Church and in society at large to impact the collective transformation of urban spaces.
As the Church, we believe it is our responsibility to transform our cities into safe and equitable spaces where women and girls can thrive and fulfill their God-given destinies.
We aim for women everywhere to realize their God-given potential by breaking down barriers that prevent them from becoming who God wants them to be.
We mobilize and equip women to become influential leaders in city transformation and beyond.
Who We Are
A diverse, multigenerational movement of women and men united to transform urban spaces into places of shalom for women and girls.
Why Gospel Disruption?
South Asia is one of the leading regions in the world for domestic and/or institutionalized gender-based discrimination and violence against women and girls. Cultural norms perpetuate inequalities, affecting women and girls throughout their lives.
A significant part of the solution lies in the disruptive voices within the Church. However, even women in the Church often remain as “frozen assets,” immobilized by the influence of toxic cultural norms within the Church itself. It is time to raise the bar for the Church to respond and drive change, accelerating the flourishing of women in our cities.
Signs of hope
Cities in South Asia are undergoing significant transformations, and at the forefront of these changes are women who are disrupting traditional norms. They are driving positive societal shifts by challenging long standing gender roles, advocating for equality, and creating a more inclusive urban landscape.
What is often missing in this context is the voice of the Church, a gospel alternative to change, a God-authored response to the issues women and girls are victims of.
To bridge this gap a movement was launched in 2021 to collaborate with city movements to mobilize the whole Church to influence the whole city with the whole gospel for women and girls.
Why We Use the Word ‘Disruption’
The word “disruptive” typically refers to causing trouble or stopping something from happening in the usual way. However, it doesn’t always carry a negative connotation. In a positive sense, disruption can mean challenging or questioning the status quo—how things are or are done. Essentially, without disruption, there is no change, and without change, growth or transformation is impossible.

Our Vision
Disruptive Women is a city gospel movement of women and men committed to strategic God-authored disruption to accelerate change for women and girls so that the whole Church takes the whole gospel to the whole city.
We bring together Churches, nonprofits, marketplace leaders, and influencers from every sphere of influence to act collectively and accelerate change!
